About the role
Brand Manager – Marketing & Creative
Newark, NJ $130,000–$180,000
Monday–Thursday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM; Friday, 8:00 AM–1:00 PM
Why This Role Exists
A nationally recognized building materials brand is entering its next stage of growth and continuing to elevate how it is positioned and perceived in the market.
The business has scale, strong products, and an established market presence. The opportunity now is to ensure the brand experience fully reflects the quality, design, and sophistication of what the company has become.
The Brand Manager will own that evolution.
This person will lead brand strategy, positioning, creative direction, and consistency across every major customer touchpoint, while developing and leading the marketing and creative team responsible for bringing the brand to life.
This is an opportunity for a brand leader who combines strong creative instincts, commercial judgment, leadership presence, and the ability to turn strategy into execution.
What You Will Own
• Lead the continued evolution of the brand toward a more premium, differentiated market position
• Own brand positioning, messaging, voice, visual identity, and overall brand consistency
• Translate the brand strategy into clear creative direction across digital, campaigns, photography, video, print, showroom, dealer, trade, and sales channels
• Lead major brand initiatives, campaigns, product introductions, and perception-changing creative work
• Establish and maintain brand guidelines, messaging standards, and creative approval processes
• Lead, coach, and develop the marketing and creative team while setting clear priorities and accountability
• Provide direction and feedback to internal creative resources, agencies, photographers, production partners, and other external specialists
• Partner closely with Sales, Product, Digital, and senior leadership to connect brand strategy with business priorities
• Use customer insights, competitive intelligence, campaign performance, and business results to continually strengthen the brand
What Success Looks Like
• The market increasingly sees the brand as premium, current, differentiated, and design-forward
• The brand looks, sounds, and feels consistent across every important customer touchpoint
• Creative work becomes stronger and more distinctive without sacrificing speed of execution
• Dealers, partners, customers, and the design community have a clearer understanding of what the brand represents
• The marketing and creative team operates with stronger ownership, accountability, and direction
• Brand initiatives and campaigns contribute to measurable business growth—not simply awareness or creative awards
• Strong systems and standards are established without creating unnecessary bureaucracy
What You Need
• Meaningful experience leading, evolving, repositioning, or transforming a premium, high-end, or design-led brand
• A strong track record in brand strategy, positioning, messaging, storytelling, and creative development
• Experience leading a significant rebrand, brand refresh, repositioning, or market-perception shift
• Demonstrated ability to set creative direction and raise the quality and consistency of customer-facing work
• Experience directly managing and developing a marketing and/or creative team
• Strong judgment when evaluating creative concepts, messaging, photography, campaigns, and brand experiences
• Experience leading integrated campaigns across multiple customer channels
• Commercial mindset with an understanding of budgets, ROI, growth, customer behavior, and business tradeoffs
• Ability to operate with speed, ownership, and practical judgment in an entrepreneurial environment
• Strong communication skills with the presence, energy, and enthusiasm to rally people around a brand vision
Preferred Background
Experience with premium or design-led products in industries such as:
• Building materials
• Kitchen and bath
• Premium appliances
• Architectural products
• Surfaces, tile, stone, or flooring
• Plumbing and fixtures
• Lighting
• Furniture and interiors
• Premium home products
• Other design-led consumer or durable goods brands
Experience with B2B2C, dealer, distributor, showroom, retail, A&D, or specification-driven channels is highly valuable.
PR experience is helpful but not required.
We are particularly interested in leaders who have helped an established but growing business evolve its brand, rather than only maintaining established standards within a highly mature corporate environment.
The Right Environment
You have likely succeeded in a growing or mid-sized organization where you had meaningful ownership and could influence both strategy and execution.
You are comfortable making decisions, challenging creative work, developing people, partnering closely with senior leadership, and moving initiatives forward without excessive layers or consensus.
You know how to build structure without creating bureaucracy and can stay close enough to the work to understand what is really happening while empowering a capable team to execute.
