Brooklyn, NY | Onsite | Full-Time

$95K–$120K + Benefits

Monday–Thursday, 9 AM–5 PM | Friday, 9 AM–2 PM

Position Overview

A well-established nonprofit organization is seeking an experienced HR Generalist to support day-to-day HR functions across multiple programs. Reporting to the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), this role will focus on employee relations, compliance, performance management, and HR operations.

The Ideal Candidate

• 4+ years of broad HR experience

• Strong employee relations and conflict-resolution experience

• Knowledge of employment laws and HR compliance

• Experience coaching managers on performance and disciplinary matters

• Professional, organized, discreet, and comfortable handling sensitive issues

• Nonprofit, social services, or community-based experience preferred

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as an HR resource for employees and managers

• Handle employee relations, performance concerns, disciplinary matters, and workplace investigations

• Coach managers on employee issues, documentation, and corrective action

• Support performance reviews, employee development, and separations

• Ensure compliance with employment laws, policies, and HR procedures

• Maintain personnel files, I-9s, background checks, and HRIS records

• Support compensation, onboarding, employee engagement, and HR initiatives

• Prepare HR reports and assist the CHRO with workforce planning and organizational needs

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field

• 4+ years of HR Generalist or similar experience

• Strong employee relations and HR compliance background

• Proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office

• Strong communication, judgment, and organizational skills

• PHR/SHRM certification or master's degree a plus

Compensation & Benefits

$95K–$110K, competitive benefits, generous PTO, and onsite employee parking.
