Privacy Policy

Shtello Pages is a free community hub for the Jewish community, run by Shtello LLC, Highland Park, New Jersey (“we”). This policy covers shtellopages.com and the Shtello Pages app for iPhone and Android. One account works across all of them.
What we collect
- Account details: your name, email address, and optionally your phone number, home town, languages and interests. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name, email address and an account ID from them. If you use Apple's “Hide My Email”, we only get the relay address. Passwords are stored only as a secure hash.
- What you post: business listings, jobs, events, marketplace items, homes, reviews, replies, messages to businesses, and photos you upload.
- Use of the site and app: pages you view, buttons you tap, the site or campaign that sent you, device type, browser, operating system, language, and approximate location (city and region) based on your internet address. We use this to see what is useful and to fix problems.
- Location: only if you allow it, your device location is used to show the closest jobs, shuls, businesses and events. It is kept on your device (in a cookie) to sort results and is not added to your profile.
- Notifications: if you turn on notifications, we store a notification token for your device or browser and what you asked to hear about (for example, new jobs in a town or field).
- Cookies: we use cookies to keep you signed in, remember your choices and count visits. We do not use advertising cookies.
How we use it
- To run your account and let you sign in on the website or in the app with any method you set up.
- To show listings, jobs and events near you, and to send the emails and notifications you asked for (job alerts, weekly town recaps, replies and account messages). Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link, and notifications can be turned off at any time.
- To keep the community safe: preventing spam and abuse, and reviewing reported content.
- To improve Shtello Pages, using counts and trends.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it for cross-app advertising or tracking. We share only what is needed with service providers who help us run Shtello Pages: hosting and database, email delivery, and the notification services built into phones and browsers (Apple Push Notification service and Google Firebase Cloud Messaging). When you choose Sign in with Apple or Google, those companies handle that sign-in under their own privacy policies. What you post publicly (listings, reviews, events, marketplace items) is visible to everyone. We may disclose information if the law requires it.
Your choices
- Edit your profile and email settings on your account page, and turn job alerts and notifications on or off there or in your phone's settings.
- Delete your account any time on the website or in the app: Account, then Delete account, or go to shtellopages.com/delete-account. This removes your account and personal data right away (details on that page).
- Ask us for a copy of your data or to correct it through the feedback page.
How long we keep it
We keep account information while your account is open. When you delete it, we delete your personal information right away, except what we must keep for legal reasons or to prevent fraud. Visit statistics are kept in a form not tied to your name.
Security
Connections are encrypted, passwords are hashed, and sign-in tokens from Google and Apple are verified against their public keys. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong password if you set one.
Children
Shtello Pages is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you think a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date above and, for important changes, let members know by email or in the app.
