Davis School Chicago is a proudly Jewish, college-preparatory high school opening in fall 2027 in downtown Chicago, in a state-of-the-art building at the heart of a great city for learning. Every adult at Davis is an educator and a culture-builder, held to two expectations at once: deep human warmth and uncompromising intellectual excellence. Davis is hiring a founding Hebrew Teacher to make modern Hebrew a living language at the school: real spoken proficiency, real Israeli culture, real joy.
Responsibilities: • Teach Modern Hebrew across multiple proficiency levels in grades 9–12, entirely in Hebrew • Design immersive, standards-based lessons that build speaking, listening, reading, and writing proficiency • Integrate Israeli culture, literature, history, and current events into instruction • Teach for real proficiency aligned to ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines, and benchmark student growth against external assessments such as Avant STAMP • Help build a vertically aligned Hebrew curriculum as a founding faculty member • Mentor and advise students, and create opportunities to use Hebrew beyond the classroom
