Rabbi-Full Time

About the role

Full-time Rabbi Wanted

Are you our next Rabbi? Congregation B'nai Sholom-Beth David (CBSBD), founded in 1907, is a warm and welcoming modern Conservative synagogue community in Rockville Centre, NY; we open our arms to all Jews, including interfaith and LGBTQ families, and we regularly invite other religious leaders to speak with our congregation. We seek an energetic, passionate, modern-minded person: fully versed and steeped in Halachic practice to help fulfill our mission and commitment to Conservative Judaism worship and observances, yet contemporary enough to understand and be flexible to the realities and challenges of 21st century American Jewry.

Regular Rabbinic responsibilities include: delivering inspirational, meaningful Shabbat and High Holiday sermons, reinvigorate/lead/coordinate daily Minyanim, overseeing ritual matters and life cycle events, administering other aspects of congregational life including adult ed programming, pastoral duties and supporting synagogue-sponsored events.

Our next Rabbi's outreach: someone with the desire, ability, and imagination to expand Judaism beyond our temple's walls and into the community. These are vital aspects to CBSBD's goals.

• About Congregation B'nai Sholom-Beth David
• A synagogue is more than just a House of Prayer or a House of Study; it's the core of Jewish life – a spiritual home where people come together and form lifelong bonds. CBSBD has been filling that role in Rockville Centre, Lynbrook and surrounding areas for more than a century. Throughout the decades, we have fostered in each of our members a special camaraderie and feeling of great pride in our Jewish heritage. Many families have been members for several generations, a testament to their love and respect for our beautiful spiritual home
• We are a warm, welcoming egalitarian congregation, affiliated with United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism. Men and women participate in all aspects of religious life. We're open to all who seek a connection to Jewish life and wish to join us, regardless of religious background, age, ability, socioeconomic status, race, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or gender identity. Our members are as diverse as the communities in which we live. We are a place where people develop a meaningful connection to Judaism and to each other.
• We are located 25 miles east of mid-town Manhattan, with award-winning school districts and beautiful, diverse neighborhoods. It's a 35-minute train ride on the Long Island Railroad into NYC, and once there, in addition to all the tourist attractions, you are close to JTS and the Hebrew Union. We are also conveniently located near JFK and LaGuardia Airports.
• We look forward to welcoming you to our family.
