About Luria Academy of Brooklyn
Luria Academy of Brooklyn is inspiring a new generation of leaders, creators, thinkers, and engaged citizens. Our two campuses serve 320 students from preschool through 8th Grade. Luria offers a sophisticated Jewish day school education in a progressive, Montessori-based environment. Our students come from a wide range of religious and economic backgrounds, and they are encouraged to be curious, to embrace one another's differences, and to engage in respectful dialogue. We focus on the whole child: our educators design learning experiences that support and challenge each student, and we track progress using standards-based assessment and grading practices.
About the Role
Luria is seeking a full-time Special Education Teacher to deliver SETSS to students in our Lower and Upper Schools. The Special Education Teacher will join Luria's SETSS agency in a salaried, benefits-eligible position. Working closely with classroom teachers and the Student Support team, the Special Education Teacher provides specially designed instruction that helps students with disabilities access the curriculum, meet their annual goals, and take part fully in the life of an inclusive classroom. This position reports to the Upper School Director.
Key Responsibilities
Instruction
• Deliver direct SETSS to students individually and in small groups, in the classroom (push-in) or in a separate setting (pull-out), in accordance with each student's mandated frequency, group size, and language of service.
• Design and deliver specially designed instruction in literacy, math, and executive function skills that is aligned with each student's annual goals and New York State standards.
• Collaborate with general education, Judaic Studies, and Hebrew teachers to adapt instruction, materials, and the learning environment so diverse learners are successful in an inclusive setting.
Assessment, Progress Monitoring, and Documentation
• Collect and analyze data on a regular schedule to monitor each student's progress toward the annual goals in their IESP or IEP, and adjust instruction based on the results.
• Write clear, accurate progress reports on annual goals and contribute to Luria Progress Reports as requested.
